A Rome man was in jail Monday on felony obstruction charges pending the posting of a $3,900 bond.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Christopher James Minor, 26, of 1204 Martha Berry Blvd., first came to attention of police Sunday night when he tried to steal a 50-cent lighter from the BP service station on Shorter Avenue. The clerk asked officer to release him and the person with him but to institute a ban.
The two left the store but, as the officer was writing the report, Minor's name turned up an outstanding warrant for not paying child support. Police tracked him down at his address, a room at the Relax Inn.
After Minor was handcuffed he tried to run, but police quickly caught him and took him to jail. He was booked on three felony counts of obstructing an officer in addition to contempt of superior court for non-payment of child support.
