A Rome man remained in jail Sunday without bond after being accused of shooting the mother of his child.
According to Floyd County Jail reports and Capt. Paul Greene of the Rome Police Department:
DaShawn Ronnell Gordon, 19, of 101 Cherokee St., was arrested at 1 a.m. Sunday after he shot a young woman in the head. The 14-year-old victim and Gordon have a child together. He also tried to keep the victim inside the house.
The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center and then life-flighted to another hospital, but her condition was not known late Sunday.
Gordon also gave police a false name when he was questioned.
He is charged with felony counts of aggravated battery under the Family Violence Act, false imprisonment under the Family Violence Act and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of giving a false name to an officer.
