A Cave Spring man was released from jail on a $2,600 bond Friday after he allegedly made an emergency call reporting that he had been shot in the back, even though he wasn’t shot.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Travis Lamar Floyd, 35, of 7 Perry Farm Road, Cave Spring, called Floyd County Emergency 911 around 6:45 p.m. Friday, claiming that he had been shot at 104 Piedmont Ave. Prior to reporting that he had been shot, Floyd called 911, telling a dispatcher there was a man in the Towers Drive area with a shotgun trying to shoot him.

Residents in the area told police the incident never took place, and Floyd was taken into custody just after 7 p.m. Friday.

Floyd is charged with two misdemeanor counts of false report of a crime.
