Floyd County police arrested a Rome man after he allegedly attempted to strike an elderly man with an axe and punched his mother in the face, then continued to threaten them by phone while he was on the run from police.
According to Floyd county Jail reports:
Zachary Daniel Patrick, 28, of 78 Baker St., was arrested Wednesday evening following a series of events at his home.
A warrant charging Patrick with felony aggravated assault states that he attempted to strike one victim with the axe, punched a female family member in the face and threatened at least two other victims during the fracas.
The woman was injured and had a broken tooth as a result of being hit in the face.
Patrick ran into the woods. He then used his cellphone to call the victims and continue to threaten them while trying to avoid police.
Patrick is also charged with two felony counts of making terroristic threats and acts as well as misdemeanors for two counts of battery, disorderly conduct, reckless conduct, simple assault and two counts of exploitation of an elder or disabled adult.
Patrick was being held in the Floyd County Jail Thursday without bond.
