Report: Floyd County woman is arrested after biting, fighting officers

A woman who was arrested on a probation warrant was handed down additional charges after allegedly scuffling with jail officers Thursday afternoon.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Darlene Ann Higginbotham, 54, of 5 Dibrell St., who had been picked up earlier Thursday on a probation warrant, punched a jail officer in the face around 1:40 p.m. Higginbotham told deputies she was HIV-positive and bit the same jail officer on the hand, and then fought with two other jail officers.

Higginbotham was charged with felony inciting a riot in a penal institution, reckless conduct, three counts of obstruction and two misdemeanors counts of battery against a law enforcement officer.

She was in jail without bond Thursday night.
