Report: Driver tossed meth bag, passenger also charged

Floyd County police stopped a motorist for speeding and wound up recovering a bag of methamphetamine the driver reportedly dropped outside of the vehicle, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Shelby Savanah Phillips, 20, of 210 North Elm Street and Richard Jody Trapp, 46, of 1267 Radio Springs Road, were arrested after the vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Three Mile Road and the Armuchee Connector. Phillips jumped from the front seat to the back seat but could not provide a driver’s license.

Police found a glass pipe and a small bag with suspected meth on the ground outside the passenger side of the vehicle. Both individuals in the vehicle denied possession of the drugs. Both Trapp and Phillips are charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanors for possession of drug related objects. Phillips was also charged with misdemeanors for speeding and driving without a license.

Trapp was being in the Floyd County Jail Thursday without bond, however, Phillips was granted a $5,700 bond.
