A Polk County man is charged with speeding off from a traffic stop in August while an officer was clinging to the open door of the man’s car, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Torrey Lashawn Hutchins, 39, of 157 Pine Road, Rockmart, turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail Tuesday to face multiple charges stemming from incidents on Aug. 22.
Officers had set up a road check early that morning at Reeceburg Road and Booze Mountain Road. When Hutchins stopped, police could smell marijuana in the vehicle. One officer opened the driver side door and Hutchins put the vehicle back into drive and sped off. The officer clung to the open door for a short distance before letting go.
Hutchins is charged with felony aggravated assault on police, felony fleeing and attempting to elude and at least ten traffic related misdemeanors, including driving under the influence of drugs.
