A Rome man was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery after late night assault on Oakland Avenue, according to reports.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Erick Giovani Depaz, 31, of 1104 Oakland Ave., is charged with felony aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He is also charged with possession of a knife while committing a felony as well as public drunk.
Rome police were investigating a knife attack on Oakland Avenue late Thursday night.
According to Capt. Roy Willingham:
The incident at 1104 Oakland Ave. appeared to be a domestic dispute. Details were sketchy, but Willingham said the man cut the woman in the throat with a knife shortly before 10:30 p.m. She ran next door to relatives, who called the police.
The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center. Her condition was unknown at press time.
The suspect was in custody within minutes.
“He’ll be charged with aggravated assault at the least,” Willingham said.
