An Adairsville man accused of attacking a woman with a metal pole was being held Monday in the Floyd County Jail.
According to jail reports:
Douglas Justin Parker, 29, 1141 Pleasant Valley Road, Adairsville, was arrested Sunday after he assaulted a woman with a metal pole in the presence of a small child.
When police attempted to place Parker in handcuffs, he broke free and injured one of the officers before being captured.
Parker is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of felony obstruction of officers, felony terroristic threats and acts, criminal trespassing, simple battery against police officers and misdemeanor cruelty to children.
He also was charged on a warrant for felony theft by taking a motor vehicle. The warrant contends he took a 1997 Buick Skylark from a Franklin Street residence on May 3.
