Floyd County police say four people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Ga. 140 and Floyd Springs Road between noon and 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
According to Floyd County officer Todd Jackson:
A Ford Ranger truck, driven by Harriett Shriver, 67, Armuchee, was north bound on Floyd Springs Road and pulled into the intersection in front of a Dodge Avenger traveling on Ga. 140, driven by Odell Rampley, 62, Rome.
The Avenger struck the truck in the area of the driver’s side door, pushing it off the highway onto the shoulder on the south side of the road. The Avenger careened across a steep ditch on the north side of the road just east of the intersection.
Rampley and two passengers in her vehicle, Jasmine Mullins, 23, Rome, and a 2-year-old child, were all taken to Floyd Medical Center where they were still being treated in the emergency room late Thursday evening.
Shriver was also taken to Floyd but did not require admission to the hospital.
Officer Jackson said Shriver was charged with failure to yield causing the wreck.
Update: Four people are being taken to the hospital following a multi-vehicle wreck today at Ga. 140 and Floyd Springs Road are off the roadway and traffic at the intersection was not moving at 1 p.m.
