A North Rome man was in jail without bond Tuesday night after being accused of setting clothes on fire in the backroom of his him following an altercation with an elderly man Christmas Day.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Demetrius Deon Allen, 26, of 124 Smith St., was arrested by Rome police at his home on Monday.
Around 9:15 p.m., he had been screaming at a disabled 73-year-old man before lunging at him. This prompted a call to police. When they arrived, police asked him to leave. Instead of leaving, he went to a backroom and set some clothes on fire.
Allen is facing four counts of misdemeanor reckless conduct as well as felony charges of exploitation and intimidation of disabled or elderly persons and arson in the first degree.
