A Rome man who was arrested and charged with shooting a 14-year-old girl Nov. 8 is facing a spate of new charges.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
DaShawn Ronnell Gordon, 19, of 101 Cherokee St., was additionally charged Monday with aggravated assault with the intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, cruelty to children and statutory rape, all felonies, and misdemeanor battery.
He was initially charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, false imprisonment and giving false name, address or birth date to law enforcement.
Gordon is accused of shooting a 14-year-old girl multiple times in the head. She was taken the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga but documents filed at the jail Monday say she will be transferred to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta for rehabilitation.
Gordon is being held in jail without bond.
