A Rome man was in jail without bond Friday night after being accused of grabbing a woman and holding her down as she was trying to walk away while calling 911.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Cornelius Bertrand Penn Jr., 26, of 325 Edgewood Ave., was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Friday at his home. Penn took the woman’s phone so she couldn’t speak to dispatchers.
The incident took place in front of four children.
Penn is charged with felony false imprisonment, along with misdemeanor obstructing or hindering persons making an emergency call, simple battery under the Family Violence Act, cruelty to children in the third degree under the FVA and criminal trespass under the FVA.
