A Silver Creek man allegedly gave police a false name during a traffic stop on Shorter Avenue resulting in a felony identity fraud charge being filed against the motorist.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Stacey Mitchell Gardner, 50, of 74 Preacher Smith Road, was stopped on Shorter Avenue at Lyons Drive by Rome Police early Friday morning. He ran a red light that got the attention of police, which resulted in a whole series of charges.
In addition to giving police a phony driver's license, Gardner was also charged with misdemeanors for running the red light, driving on a suspended license, driving a vehicle with expired registration and concealing the identity of the vehicle with an improper tag
Gardner was being held in the Floyd County Jail Friday without bond.
