A Floyd County man was jailed after he allegedly failed to stop for police on U.S. 27 South early Saturday morning.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jeffary Lee Akins, 25, of 128 Doyle Road, was charged with a felony for fleeing or attempting to elude officers and misdemeanors for driving on a suspended license, speeding and an open container violation.
Police attempted to stop Akins for speeding around 5 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of U.S. 27 and Shorthorn Road. Akins sped away, pulled into the driveway of his home then fled on foot into the woods where he was caught a short time later.
Akins was released from jail Saturday on $3,500 bond.
