Man charged with exploitation of elderly

A Rome man was jailed after allegedly cashing a forged check on the account of a 74-year old victim.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Cody Van Ball, 34, of 2118 Maple Road, is charged with felony exploitation of an elder person, a felony probation violation, theft by receiving stolen property and forgery in the fourth degree after being arrested at his residence by Floyd County deputies on Monday.

He reportedly cashed a $250 stolen check on August 7.

Ball was being detained in the Floyd County Jail Tuesday morning pending a first appearance hearing.
