A homeless man was in jail without bond Thursday night after being accused of stopping a woman from leaving a room at the Cottis Inn by choking her. The man’s encounter with the woman violated a temporary protective order, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jimmy Dale Maynard, 37, was arrested around 8:33 a.m. Thursday at the motel, 1105 Martha Berry Blvd. He had to be forced into a patrol car by two officers after his arrest. The woman has several visible injuries.
Maynard is charged with felony false imprisonment, aggravated stalking and aggravated assault. He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and battery under the Family Violence Act.
Maynard was also being held in jail for the South Carolina Department of Parole and Community Corrections on undisclosed charges.
