A Rome man was released from jail Wednesday on $11,200 bond after his arrest on drug charges by police responding to an assault call.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Orlando Lopez Nichols, 22, of 406 E. 14th St., was arrested Tuesday evening at a home on Cedar Avenue after he refused to show an officer what was in his hands. Police had been called because Nichols was accused of assaulting a woman earlier that day.
After refusing to show officers his hands, Nichols shut the door and went back inside. When officers entered the home, they found marijuana and packaging materials. Nichols also had a firearm.
Nichols is charged with felony aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana in public housing and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction and possession of marijuana.
