A LaFayette man accused of burglarizing a Clervue Circle home last year was behind bars at the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Stephen Dale Kinsey, 40, of 2966 Lower Mill Creek Road in LaFayette, was transferred from the Walker County Jail to the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday.
He was charged with felony first-degree burglary, theft by taking, criminal trespassing and misdemeanor stalking.
Warrant information states that sometime between June 26, 2014, and June 27, 2014, Kinsey broke the front door of 34 Clervue Circle off its frame and entered the residence.
The damage to the door was valued at $500.
Kinsey then stole several items of clothing, valued at more than $1,500, from the woman’s residence.
Police indicated that Kinsey knew the victim and had sent her text messages.
Kinsey “entered her home with purpose of harassing and intimidating” the woman, according to the Statement of Criminal charges.
No bond was set for Kinsey.
