A Tuesday afternoon grass fire on Berry College’s Mountain Campus caused no injuries, Rome Fire Department officials said.

According to Battalion Chief Roger Haggard:

The blaze started about 4:30 p.m. when a vehicle caught on fire off Possum Trot.

“They said all they were doing was driving,” Haggard said.

The vehicle fire then grew, burning about an acre of grass.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 5 p.m.
