An East Rome resident was in jail Monday night without bond after his arrest in connection with the severe beating of a disabled adult in early September.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jeremy Antwon Fields, 26, of 218 E. 14th St., is charged with aggravated assault and exploitation or intimidation of a disabled adult. The 53-year-old male victim was beaten Sept. 2 at Fields’ home.
City police allege that Fields used his fists and a shoe to batter the man on the head and face. The victim was ultimately hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Redmond Regional Medical Center for a period of time. He has since recovered from his injuries.
Documents also allege that Fields took $10 from the victim, resulting in a misdemeanor theft by taking charge.
Fields was also served with a contempt of court warrant related to a child support complaint.
