Floyd County police responded to reports of a shooting in Lindale on Tuesday but, after an investigation, discovered an assault had taken place and made an arrest.
According to Floyd County police and Floyd County Jail reports:
Corey Demarcus Gardhigh, 30 of 172 East Point Road, Cedartown, is charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor simple battery and several counts of third-degree cruelty to children.
Police were called to the reported shooting on 5:15 p.m. Tuesday on South Central Avenue in Lindale. On arrival, police determined a shooting had not occurred but officers did locate a victim at the scene with an obvious head injury from what appeared to be an assault.
After several hours the Floyd County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation’s Division was able to identify a suspect and arrested Gardhigh around 11 p.m., according to investigator Amy Nails.
