A 21-year-old Bartow County man is facing a murder charge after an investigation showed the death of a 11-week-old child who died in 2017 was a homicide, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office.
According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap:
Investigators filed warrants against Jerry Wayne Bagley Jr., 21, for murder and first-degree cruelty to children. The incident took place on Cedar Creek Road on April 24, 2017. The infant was suffering from a reported cardiac arrest and was taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta for treatment, but died four days later.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy which determined the child died as a result of homicide. The cause of death was found to be craniocerebral trauma.
On Feb. 11, just after midnight, deputies took Bagley into custody on these charges. Bagley is being held at the Bartow County Jail awaiting a Superior Court bond hearing.
