Thomas McAlister

Mr. Thomas “Mac” McAlister, age 69, of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at a Centre, Alabama hospital.

Mr. McAlister was born in Taylorsville, Georgia on August 24, 1947, son of Ola Aileene Ridley McAlister and the late Thomas Monroe McAlister. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Red McAlister. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of Rome. Mr. McAlister worked for a number of years in maintenance at Floyd Medical Center and Harbin Clinic and later retired from Ace Hardware where he was a Store Manager.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Rittenhouse McAlister, to whom he was married on February 21, 2007; four children, Jennifer Forsyth, Lindale, Matthew McAlister, Rome, Blake McAlister and his wife, Mary, Cedartown, and Gretchen King Lobik, Arkansas; two step-sons, Christopher Davis and Matt Davis; several grandchildren; his mother, Ola Aileene McAlister; two brothers, Charles McAlister, Rockmart, and Kenny McAlister, Rockmart; a sister, Darlene Andrews, Rockmart; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 4 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Jody Hagerty and the Rev. Ronnie Newberry will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 2 until 3:45pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
