The Rev. Gary Wayne Studdard

The Rev. Gary Wayne Studdard, age 70, of Rome, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at his residence.

The Rev. Studdard was born in Cedartown, Georgia on October 13, 1947, son of the late Harlan Studdard and the late Helen Venable Studdard. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Brent Studdard, by a brother, Donald Ray Studdard and by a brother-in-law, Barry Arnold. The Rev. Studdard was a Minister of the Gospel for many years and pastored six churches over 45 years including Wimberly Hill Baptist Church, Cedartown; West Summerville Baptist Church, Summerville; East View Baptist Church, Community Chapel Baptist Church, Radio Springs Baptist Church, and Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church, all in Rome. He was very dedicated to his ministry and serving the congregation of each of the churches he pastored. During his time as a Pastor, The Rev. Studdard also worked for American General for 24 years. He was devoted to his loving wife and loved his children and grandchildren and they were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Joan Arnold Studdard, to whom he was married on April 6, 1985; a daughter, Melanie Hughes (Jacob), Dallas; a son, Jeremy Studdard (Ashley Scott), Hiram; two grandsons, Will Hughes and Kade Hughes; a sister, Nancy Bonds, Rome; a sister-in-law, Pat Loftin (Tim), Longwood, Fla.; special niece, Stephanie Tolan (David); other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. J. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from noon until 1:45 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Active: Jerry Bonds, Marvin Jackson, Jacob Hughes, Will Hughes, Jerry Dudley, and Tim Loftin. Honorary: Ty Scoggins and Kade Hughes.
