Mr. Robert Monroe Holbert, age 82, of Kingston, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in a local hospital.

Mr. Holbert was born June 8, 1935, in Floyd County, a son of the late John Henry Holbert and Hattie Christine Price Holbert. He was retired from American Freight, and was employed for many years by Bartow County School System as bus driver. Mr. Holbert was a member of Kingston Masonic Lodge #394 F&AM in Kingston, Ga. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Henry Holbert, sisters, Evelyn Mildred Holbert Green, Ora Eugenia “Jean” Holbert Hardin.

Survivors include son, Robert (Lorrie) Day, Henegar, Ala.; daughter, Robbie Jo Haney, Summerville; brother, John Daniel (Martha) Holbert, Calhoun; sisters, Mary Sue Holbert Ford, Plainville; Barbara Holbert Penson, Rome; Joan Holbert Overby, Dalton; grandchildren, Tyler Day, Levi Haney, Heath Haney, and Stoney Haney, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Peeler, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165

Nephews, and Kingston Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.
