Peggy Howard Penney

Mrs. Peggy Howard Penney, age 80, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Penney was born in Rome on March 21, 1936, daughter of the late Winford Ballard Howard and the late Mollie Chesser Howard.  She was a graduate of the Armuchee High School and was a former secretary with the Bellsouth Company. She was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church, the Joy Club, and the O’Yes Choir. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Hudon Penney, by a grandson, Trent Tyree, by two sisters, Margie Sheridan and Micky Hicks, and by three brothers, Jimmy Howard, Harry Howard and Buddy Howard.

Survivors include, three daughters, Tammy White and her husband, Ronnie, Rome, Debby Tyree, Rome, and Michelle Dodd and her husband, Herbert,Rome; a brother, Joe Howard and his wife, Ginger, Rome; five grandchildren, Steven White, Stephanie Bristow, Summer Sutton, Erin Sutton, and Katlin Collins; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Bristow and Sadie Bristow; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the New Armuchee Baptist Church with Dr. David Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the New Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and at other hours they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at the New Armuchee BaptistChurch on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Randy Howard, Wayne Howard, Danny Howard, Steven White, Steven Collins, and Jake Goss; an honorary pallbearers will be Winford Bray.
