Lowe Ellis “L.E.” McMichen

Mr. Lowe Ellis “L.E.” McMichen, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in a local hospital.

Mr. McMichen was born in Floyd County on March 18, 1935, son of the late Ray Vaughn McMichen and the late Lillian Beatrice Crowe McMichen. He had been an employee of Celanese Fibers for over seven years and later retired from the Floyd County Board of Education after serving as a custodian and bus driver for the Glenwood Elementary and Armuchee High Schools. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and member of the Lindale Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Elizabeth Redden McMichen; by two children, Donna Leah McMichen and Charles Edward McMichen; and by a granddaughter, Kristi Michelle Cosper.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice McMichen Smith (Harry), Lindale; a son, Rickey Lee McMichen, Rome; a brother, Chester McMichen, Rome; two grandchildren, Autumn LaDawn Hughes and Kelly Lyn Craig; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Jackson, Robin, Gavin, Dawson, Wesley, Cheyenne, Judson, Skye, Taylor, Aaron, Rosie, Jett, and Jasper; a great-great-grandchild, Carsen; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018. The Rev. Leonard Crawford and the Rev. Bert Brooks will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mountain Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at each of their respective residences.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and include Jason Cross, Michael Cross, Jerry Gurley, Ricky Boatwright, Rodney Atkisson, and Tim Godfrey.
