Kathleen Hayes Morris, age 84, of Centre Ala., formerly of Rome, Ga., passed away Oct. 15, 2016.
Mrs. Morris was born Aug. 6, 1932 in Trion Ga., the daughter of the late Barney Hawkins Hayes and Mary Lee McKenzie Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Morris, to whom she was married for 46 years and her brother Gene Hayes. Mrs. Morris is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Darin) Pressley, a son, Kevin (Roxie) Morris, five grandsons, Blake and Branson Pressley, and Lyle (Alexa), Lane, and Lance Morris, and a great-granddaughter, Harper Katherine Pressley. And a very special friend William C. (Billy) Smith who was her first love. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Morris received her education at Trion City School, Model High School and Shorter College, with a Business Degree. She was employed by Smith, Rhine and Carlyle C.P.A., Jacksonville, Fla. and returning to Rome due to parent’s ill health was employed by Dr. James Kelley as his business manager and later joined by Dr. William Allen and John McCord, until she retired due to her husband’s ill health in 1996. Mrs. Morris was very active in all phases of youth work at Shannon United Methodist Church and later moved to North Rome United Methodist Church where she served as Youth Director.
The family will receive friends at Daniels Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. and then proceed to Floyd Memory Garden for graveside services conducted by Ken Jones with eulogy by Lyle Morris. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Kenyon Jones. Daniels Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
