Jerry Wayne Haggard, 56, of Rome, died September 26, 2017 at a local hospital.
A native of Rome, Jerry was born October 15, 1960, the son of Grover Haggard and the late Shirley Kell Haggard. Jerry was previously self-employed as a flooring and carpet installer and prior to that was employed by Coosa Valley Contractors as a heavy equipment operator. Jerry was a big hearted person who enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing. He loved riding motorcycles and could fix anything. He was of the Baptist faith. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Kell Haggard; brother, Jimmy Haggard, and sister-in-law, Denise Haggard; grandparents, Willard and Leila Stephens; uncles, Lewis Haggard and Bill Bradshaw; and brother-in-law, Jerry Clifton.
He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army.
Survivors include his fiancée, Lisa Durham; daughter, Amy Haggard; sons, Jonathan and Joseph Haggard and Steven and Senia Dotson; grandchildren, Hannah Haggard and AnnLee and Johnny Law; father, Grover Haggard; brothers, David (fiancée Tina Roberson) and Tony Haggard; sisters, Pam (James) Hinkley and Penny Clifton; a special aunt, Dorothy Bradshaw; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue, with Larry Peppers officiating. The Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion will extend military honors. The family will receive friends following the service.
