Everett E. Porter Jr.

After singing at numerous weddings, funerals, patriotic events, and church programs for many years, Everett E. Porter, Jr. age 90, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Oct. 21, 11 a.m., at the Canton First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Phyllis Porter, Woodstock, Ga.; sons, Everett E. (Arlene) Porter III, Atlanta, Ga.; Steven (Debbie) Porter, Rome, Ga.; Alan Wayne (Pam) Porter, Gainesville, Ga.; daughter, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Royals, Lilburn, Ga.; sister, Jean Porter, Flowery Branch, Ga.; nine grandchildren: Wendy Cade, Kyle Porter, David Porter, Stephanie Segrest, Andrew Porter, Michael Porter, Trey Royals, Jessica Gesch, Katie Miller; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Everett E. Porter and Hazel Myers Porter; daughter, Kim Phillips; brother, William Porter; and two grandchildren: Jonathan and Amber Ruth Porter. He was a member of the American Legion and Sons of the American Revolution. He also served on the Cherokee County Development Authority. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canton First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
