Mr. Dyer LaDell "Dell" Barger, age 72, of Acworth, passed away Friday evening, September 22, 2017, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Mr. Barger was born in Floyd County on February 27, 1945, son of the late Emory Dyer Barger and the late Lettie Brownlow Black. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joan Edwards Barger, on September 3, 2017; by two sisters, Emilia Jane Barron and Geneva Barger; and by a brother, James Adolph Barger. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed truck driver for many years. For many years, Mr. Barger sang gospel music in churches in our area. He was a Mason and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Woodstock.
Survivors include four sons, Ricky Barger, and his wife, Elizabeth, Pineville, N.C.; Todd Carden, Lindale; Chris Carden, Cartersville; and Linton Barger, and his wife, Jennifer, Acworth; five grandchildren, Ricky Barger II, Jacksonville, Fla.; Shelby Green, and her husband, Chris, Rome; Nicadian and Calin Barger, both of Acwort; and Jamie Bell, and his wife, Alyssa, Silver Creek; five great-grandchildren, Zoe, Tristan, Malachi, Emersynn, and Christopher; a brother, Jack Barger, and his wife, Wanda, Ellijay; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Cargle officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and include Chris Green, Nicadian Barger, Calin Barger, Andy Edwards, Jeremy Fricks, and John Kiser.
