Dan M. Roberson

Mr. Dan M. Roberson, age 87, of Lindale, passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2017, at his home in his beloved Boozeville community following 2 years of declining health.

Mr. Roberson was born in Lindale, GA on April 14, 1929, son of the late Garnett L. Roberson and the late Mary Jane Phillips Roberson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Earwood Roberson in August, 1996, by a daughter-in-law, Ann Rosson Roberson, and by 4 brothers, George, Roy, Kenneth, and Clyde Roberson, who was killed in action during World War II. Mr. Roberson was well known as the “Shell Service Station Man” during his owning and operating Roberson’s Service Station here in Rome for many years. He also retired from the Floyd County Board of Education as a bus driver in the Pepperell and McHenry districts. Mr. Roberson was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his son, Steve Roberson, and his wife, Beth, Lindale; 2 grandchildren, Steve Roberson, Jr., and his wife, Genia, Kennesaw, and Jill Roberson Jones, and her husband, Matt, Louisville, KY; 5 great grandchildren, Camden, Kimberleigh, Aspen, Matthew, and Oakley Roberson, all of Kennesaw; 3 sisters, Ann R. Smith, Ellijay, Edna R. West, Ellijay, and his twin sister, Dorothy R. Wood, Rome; his little brother, Jack Roberson, and his wife, Charlotte, Silver Creek; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Carver officiating. Eulogies will be given by his grandchildren, Jill Jones and Steve Roberson, Jr., by his niece, Tammy Jenkins, by his nephew, Phil Wood, and by his long-time friend, the Rev. Lamar Davis. Private interment will follow later in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 2pm until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at their respective homes.

Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers and are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 3:30pm.
