Mr. Clyde Robert Davis, age 83, of Rome, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Davis was born on April 21, 1934 in Osage City, Kansas, the son of the late Merna A. Davis and Mary Elizabeth Watson Davis. He was a Communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Davis was retired from Prudential Life Insurance Company after 30 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army. His hobbies included golfing and gardening, and he was known as the tomato man on Old Dalton. His grandchildren were his life and he went to extremes to make sure they were always taken care of. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Davis; sisters, Lucille Christiason, Elizabeth Burris, Loretta Turner, Imogene Obermeir, Wilma Hambleton; brothers, Phillip Davis, Wayne Davis, Owen Davis, and his twin, Clifford Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Leota R. Whalen Davis; daughters, Tina Bruce (Ken), Traci Ray (David); grandchildren, Britney Maner, Kaitlyn “Katie” Stanfield, Haley Ray, Bryce Ray; a great-grandchild, Davis Maner, as well as several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the hour of the service on Tuesday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome Ga. 30165, with the Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard conducting full military honors.
