Mrs. Carolyn Ann Ezell Gilreath, age 78, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Gilreath was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on November 19, 1939, daughter of the late Grady Johnson and the late Hattie Hines Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Ezell, and by three brothers, Jay, Gene and Jimmy Johnson. Mrs. Gilreath worked for many years providing child care in her home. She was a member of the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Lyvone Gilreath, to whom she was married on July 28, 1989; a son, Tommy Ezell, and his wife, Davlon, Rome; three grandchildren, T.J. Ezell, Easton Ezell, and Ansley Kelley, and her husband, Steven; a brother, Leroy Johnson, Chattooga County; four sisters, Joyce Thompson, Vera Reynolds, Teresa Johnson, and Geneva Morgan, all of Chattooga County; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Rodger Whorton, the Rev. Buddy Floyd and the Rev. Thomas Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Active: Jeff McCain, Wayne Evans, Kevin Evans, T.J. Ezell, Easton Ezell, and Thomas Edwards. Honorary: Michael Gilreath.
