Bettye Weathers, age 86, of Temple, Texas, passed away Friday, Jan 5.
She was born March 26, 1931 in Rome to Scott and Nora Green Satterfield. After graduating Rome Girls High in 1949, she attended Shorter College. In June 1952 she married Ike Weathers Jr. They made Temple their home in 1963. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Her faith was an important aspect of her life and she set a wonderful example to her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional gardener; she loved animals taking in many strays. But mostly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren always saying any day with them was Mother’s Day. Above all, she supported Ike in all of his endeavors being the woman behind the man. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles Satterfield.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years; her children Renee’, Isaac and Wendi; six grandchildren and four great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bettye’s memory to Christ Episcopal Church-Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
In an effort to advance the treatment and eradication of this disease, Bettye’s brain was donated to UT Southwestern Medical Center for Alzheimer’s research.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 17 at Christ Church in Temple.
