Bette Sherman Brinson, 93, of Rome passed away January 9, 2017 at Riverwood Senior Living. Born in Rome in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Henry Sherman and the late Mattie Reeves Sherman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wilson Sherman and William E. Sherman, Sr.; her husband, Grover T. Brinson, Sr.; and her son, Grover T. Brinson, Jr.
Mrs. Brinson was the principle caretaker of four generations of Sherman family members, and she was known as a wonderful cook, avid gardener, and animal lover. She was employed at Floyd Medical Center in Rome where she retired. She and her son were members of Christ Episcopal Church in Chattanooga for many years.
Survivors include her nephew, Bill (Daphne) Sherman of Savannah, GA; her great-nephew, Todd (Kathi) Corvin of Chattanooga, TN; and honorary family members, Bill and Claudia Payne of Rome, GA.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 in East View Cemetery in Rome with the Rev. Jocelyn Bell officiating.
