According to a copy of the email sent to employees, authored by Joel Cook, general manager, the company has been, "profoundly disrupted by new modes and forms of personal transportation services that offer strong service, app-based booking and dispatch and automated payment options using mobile phones."
The email said that all dispatch operations will be outsourced to a new location, hence the National Operations Center for Transdev on Demand at 65 Technology Parkway will be closed and all positions eliminated.
According to the notice, employees will be given at least one weeks' notice before their jobs are to be terminated. Employees who remain on the job through April 1 will receive a one-week retention bonus while those who are able to stay through May 1 will receive two weeks of pay as a retention bonus.
The email also stipulates that employees will receive all earned wages and accrued and unused vacation and sick time through the time of their termination.
Cook referred calls for comment to the head of the Transdev taxi division, William George.
