Rome’s Sharon Baker was recently awarded the 2016 Inspiration in Women’s Health Award from the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health.
The national award recognizes recipients for their dedication and achievements in women’s health care and advanced practice nursing.
Awards were presented in the areas of education, research, clinical practice and policy. Bake was recognized for her contributions in education.
In 1990, she was hired as a nurse practitioner. Around this time, she founded The Women’s Information Network Inc.
In 1999, Baker was appointed to the Georgia Commission on Women and has served as chairwoman of the Health Committee and been reappointed several times. She works on several committees and writes blog posts on health topics that are the focus of GCW.
WIN is currently helping to raise funds for a new organization whose aim is to provide recovery services for victims of sex trafficking.
