Floyd County police ended the search for a missing teenager Saturday afternoon after she was found unharmed in Polk County.

Floyd County investigator Rusty Williams said 14-year-old Gwendolyn “Gwen” Isola was found with a friend in Polk County and was transported back to Floyd County by police shortly before 3 p.m.

“She wasn’t in any danger,” added Williams. “But we had to treat it like an abduction case since we didn’t know where she had gone.”

The search for Gwendolyn, who lives in foster care in Smyrna, started at 5 p.m. on Friday night after police were alerted she had last been seen around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Gwendolyn had been in Rome visiting family for the holidays before she went missing.

Davis said early Saturday morning someone had anonymously tipped them off that Gwendolyn had been seen hitchhiking in Cedartown.

She was then located by Polk County police and reunited with her family.
