GDOL and others to sponsor Northwest Georgia Career Expo March 20

ATLANTA – Job seekers in Northwest Georgia will have an opportunity on Thursday, March 20, at a career expo in Walker County to connect with about 45 area employers that want to fill immediate job openings and future positions. The expo will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center, 10052 North Highway 27 in Rock Spring.

The expo will be sponsored by the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL), Walker County Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Industry Council, Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority, and the Top of Georgia Employer Committee.

Representatives of companies from eight northwest Georgia counties and Metro Chattanooga will be at the expo. The Georgia companies represented are located in Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield counties. The companies will be hiring manufacturing personnel, including assembly-line workers, forklift operators, maintenance technicians and welders. Others will be hiring retail and clerical workers, along with those in health care and social services.

Among the employers scheduled to participate in the expo are CCM, Convergys-Chattanooga, Elwood Staffing, Express Employment Professionals, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Hayes State Prison, Hutcheson Medical Center, Lake Winnepausaukah, Lookout Mountain Community Services, Lowe’s Home Center, Mattex, Mercy Senior Care, Mohawk Industries, Onin Staffing, Primary Healthcare Centers, Quality Staffing, Randstad, Roper Corporation, Safehaven, See Rock City, Shaw Industries, Tennessee American Water, Victory Sign Industries, 2Work Staffing, and the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center.

Job seekers should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.
