Rome-Floyd County firefighters responded to a house in flames around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A vacant duplex, at 402 Nixon Ave., was on fire when the firefighters arrived on scene, according to Battalion Chief Danny Lee.
The fire was put out by the firefighters after about 15 minutes, but Lee thinks the inferno was burning for quite some time before they arrived.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
No one was inside the home, but a firefighter received burns to his ear while combating the flames.
He was transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.
