2 accused murderers plead not guilty in Copeland Street murder

Two of three men charged in connection with the 2015 shooting death of Detavious Jamalcom Milner at a Copeland Street address waived an arraignment scheduled for Thursday and pleaded not guilty to robbery and murder charges.

Zjuantavious Marquis Jackson, 101B Chambers St., is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, participation in criminal street gang activity, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Javarick Javon McCain, 131 Dodd Blvd., Apt. 3, is charged with murder and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Both waived a formal arraignment in Floyd County Superior Court.

A third defendant, Joseph Hamilton Jackson, was also arrested and charged with Milner’s murder on April 9, 2015.

He has previously pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said multiple men entered the home at 20 Cope­land St. around 11:10 p.m. April 7, 2015, and one of the men shot Milner, while another assailant demanded cash.

In addition to Milner’s death, three other people were wounded but later recovered.

The assailants left the scene after taking $1,200 from a victim.
