Pair of Rome City students are winners in essay contest

Two students from Rome City Schools were named as winners in the American History Essay Contest sponsored by the Xavier Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.

The essays by Mary Burke Smith, a fifth-grader at East Central Elementary School, and Sophie Clowdus, a sixth-grader at West End Elementary School, were chosen as the grade-level winners of the contest. The theme this year was “World War I: Remembering the War to End All Wars.”
