Hogan - Cummings Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. John Francis Hogan

Kathryn Marylouisa Cummings and John Francis Hogan, junior were married at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2015 at the W Atlanta – Buckhead hotel in Atlanta.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Denny Cummings of Rome. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Francis Hogan of Johns Creek.

Dr. George R. Callahan performed the double-ring ceremony. Sheer white curtains pulled back with bouquets of hydrangea and blush mini spray roses served as the ceremony altar. The aisles were lined with lush arrangements of white hydrangea, cream vendela roses, stems of blush mini spray roses, and blush standard roses as well as several floating candles.

A program of wedding music was provided by Lark Chamber Music’s string trio. Selections included “Sheep May Safely Graze,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Le Cygne” and “Hornpipe” from Water Music.

Shannon Staudt, sister of the groom, gave a reading by Robert Fulghum entitled “Union”.

Monica Cummings, sister-in-law of the bride, of Sandy Springs, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Rosa Causey of Opelika, Alabama; Tessa Cobucci of Atlanta, Michelle Goldman of Peachtree Corners, Colleen Lamb of San Francisco, California; Nicole Nkiere of Atlanta and Kelly Vincent of San Francisco, California. They wore formal one-shoulder gowns of black chiffon featuring a sweetheart neckline and an empire waist accented with crystal beading. They carried rounded bouquets of white hydrangea, pale blush roses, and stems of blush mini spray roses. The bouquets were finished with a gold satin ribbon wrap with French knots and each bridesmaid’s crystal initial secured to the stems.

Jack Willis, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her mother, wore an ivory ballgown of tulle over satin with a hand-beaded Swarovski crystal and pearl bodice and sweetheart neckline that finished into a cathedral length train. The skirt featured delicately placed embroidered lace with metallic thread and Swarovski crystals. The dress was finished with a Swarovski crystal and pearl belt, and a cathedral length veil with silver embroidery and beaded scallops accented with clear sequins. She carried a lush, rounded bouquet of white hydrangea and cream vendela roses. Placed within the blooms were brooches borrowed from the bride’s mother and the groom’s grandmother. The bouquet was wrapped in an ivory satin ribbon with French knots finished with a family heirloom gold locket brooch containing pictures of her father and paternal grandparents. Other meaningful details incorporated by the bride included a blue handkerchief that belonged to the groom’s great grandmother, and a sixpence in her shoe given to her by the groom’s mother.

The father of the groom was the best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Cobucci of Atlanta, John Cummings, brother of the bride, of Sandy Springs, Blake Goldman of Peachtree Corners, and Matthew Moore of Atlanta.

The mother of the bride wore an aqua chiffon A-line gown with hand-beaded embroidered lace three-quarter length sleeves, scalloped tip-of-the-shoulder V-neckline, lace empire bodice, side gathered skirt with cascading ruffle, and sweep train. The mother of the groom wore a navy blue strapless chiffon A-line gown with softly curved neckline, lace bodice with gathered empire waistband, layered draped skirt, and matching chiffon shawl.  The mothers were presented with corsages of mini white spray roses accented by an ivory organza bow.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Ballroom at the W Atlanta – Buckhead hotel. Refreshments included the bride’s round three-tier cake frosted with smooth buttercream. Cascading gold and crystal brooches and a gold and crystal “H” topper were the finishing touches. The groom’s cake was a round, two-tier hockey themed chocolate ganache cake frosted in chocolate fudge icing with fondant crossed hockey sticks and the number “18.” It was topped with chocolate dipped strawberries with white chocolate drizzle.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The City Club of Buckhead in Atlanta. Other pre-nuptial parties included an engagement party at KR Steakbar in Atlanta hosted by Anita Cummings and Monica Cummings; a miscellaneous bridal shower at the home of Ms. Lynn Parker in Johns Creek hosted by Kim Smith and Lynn Parker; a miscellaneous bridal shower at the home of Monica Cummings in Sandy Springs hosted by Tessa Cobucci, Monica Cummings, and Michelle Goldman; and a miscellaneous bridal shower at Coosa Country Club in Rome hosted by Tahnya Jones, Claudette Sikes, and Cindy Willis.

The bridesmaids hosted a bachelorette weekend in Cancun, Mexico. The groomsmen hosted a bachelor party in Destin, Florida.  

Following their honeymoon in St. Barth, the couple will reside in Johns Creek.
