Rome Exchange members honored at national convention

Twelve members of the Exchange Club of Rome attended the recent National Exchange Club Convention in Jacksonville, Florida.

Rome’s Exchange Club, the second largest Exchange Club in the United States, came away with major awards, including the Americanism, Child Abuse Reduction Effort, Club Excellence, Club Superior Membership Achievement and Distinguished Club President Awards.

Several members, Mike Elliott, Buzz Wachsteter and Scotty Edwards, were recognized for their outstanding individual service to Exchange. In addition, club member Bill King was the Keynote Speaker in the opening session and spoke for 45 minutes about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Exchange Club of Rome has constructed an authentic replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, scaled to half proportions, that travels across the country sharing information about this sacred historic monument.

Groups from as far as California and Oregon have requested that Rome Exchange’s Americanism Committee bring the Tomb to their location.
