A multi-campus endeavor by Georgia Northwestern Technical College and other colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia was undertaken this week to provide aid for South Georgia.

The donations were part of a larger effort by the TCSG for people who were affected by extensive storm and flooding damage in January.

GNTC’s Floyd County campus was one of the six designated pickup locations. Albany Technical College sent two tractor-trailers that were part of their commercial truck-driving program to the Rome campus.

The GNTC campuses in Catoosa, Gordon, Polk, Walker and Whitfield counties sent items to the Floyd campus throughout the week to be consolidated for the Friday pickup.

Items that were collected included food, blankets, towels, clothing, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items, sodas, juices and cash donations.
