Bill and Thresia Williams celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2016.
A March celebration will be held at the Rome Civic Center hosted by their children.
Bill, a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and raised in Rome, retired from Georgia Power Company. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Thresia is a Moultrie native who retired from Occupational Health nursing.
The couple met at Norman College and were married on Dec. 31, 1966 at Evelyn Methodist Church in Moultrie by the Rev. Joe Porterfield.
The Williamses have two children: Darren of Rome and April of Kennesaw. They have three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
They are members of Shannon United Methodist Church and say their secret to a long marriage is commitment.
