Paula and Leonard White of Rome recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their residence with extended family.
The couple met as students at West Georgia College and were married June 24, 1956 in Zebulon.
Mrs. White is the former Paula Whatley.
They have one son, Leonard White Jr. and his wife Karen. They also have three grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Mr. White lived in Floyd County from 1933 to 1959 and moved back to Rome in 1990. He attended Model High School, West Georgia College, The University of Georgia, Florida State University and The University of Virginia. He taught at Model High School, Glynn Academy in Brunswick, DeKalb County Schools in Decatur, Massey College, Georgia Perimeter College and Berry College.
Mrs. White was born Zebulon. She lived in Floyd County from 1956 to 1959 and returned to Rome in 1990. She attended Zebulon High School, West Georgia College and attained two degrees from The University of Georgia. She taught at Model High School, Stanardsville High School in Virginia, Winder Elementary School in Winder and DeKalb County schools.
Mr. and Mrs. White enjoy reading, attending Roadscholar programs and worshiping with many friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
They have found the secrets to a successful marraige to be unconditional love and a lot of compromise.
