Calhoun star Charlie Culberson makes major league debut

Charlie Culberson, one of the many players from Greater Rome trying to make it in the big leagues, got called up from the minors on Sunday for his Major League Baseball debut with the San Francisco Giants.

The second baseman, who played his high school career at Calhoun, went 1-for-4 in his debut. His first single of the major leagues came in the fifth inning.

The Giants went on to win the road matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-3.

Culberson was previously with the Frezno Grizzlies, which is the Triple-A ball club for the Giants. On the season with the Grizzlies, Culberson had a .285 batting average in 35 games with 10 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs.

The Giants next face the Rockies at home tonight at 7:15 p.m.
